نظم بيت الطبيب اللبناني في ميشيغن (فرع المهنية من رسالة الأمل الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية) ندوة كبيرة عن الصحة العقلية. وتضمنت الندوة مناقشة موضوعات المرض العقلي، وتعاطي المخدرات والانتحار وسلّطت الضوء على أهمية قبول تلك الحالات والتعامل معها مثل أي أمراض رئيسية أخرى. كما ركزت المحاضرات على حيوية الأدوار ودعم الأسرة والمجتمع وبناءه في مجال رعاية ضحايا المرض العقلي. وقدم البرنامج من قبل جمعية بيت الطبيب اللبناني في ميشيغن برئيسها الدكتور خليل مهدي، والطبيبة النفسية الدكتورة لميس الجابري، وقائد شرطة ديربورن رونالد حداد وأخصائية علم النفس فرح عماد والناشط الاجتماعي والمرشح للجنة ديربورن للتعليم خضر فرحات. بحضور المشرف العام لرسالة امل في أميركا الشمالية الحاج حسين اللحاف ورجال دين وقادة المجتمع المحلي والشخصيات السياسية ورجال الأعمال والمعلمين والأطباء وغيرهم من مقدمي الرعاية الصحية وكذلك الكلية ومستوى طلاب المدارس الثانوية.
The Lebanese Physicians Association of Michigan (the professional branch of Message of Hope USA) organizes a large symposium on Mental Health that took place Thursday evening (6/2/16). The discussion included the topics of mental disease, drug abuse & suicide and highlighted the importance of accepting those conditions and treating them like any other major disease. The lectures also focused highly on the vitality of family and community support and constructive roles in caring for mental disease victims. The program was presented by Lebanese Physicians Association of Michigan President Dr. Khalil Mehdi, Psychiatrist Dr. Lamis Jabri, Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad, Psychologist Farah Imad & community activist and Dearborn Board of Education Candidate Khodr Farhat. The audience included community leaders, political figures, businessmen, teachers, physicians and other healthcare providers as well as college and high school level students.
